Laura Trott, Ed Clancy and Peter Kennaugh are among the elite GB cyclists who will appear at Round 5 of the Revolution Series at London's Olympic velodrome on 27-28 February. The event will also see Dame Sarah Storey bid to set a new women's Hour Record, the first such attempt to take place at Lee Valley VeloPark.

Team GB's gold medallists will be joined by a stellar international cast including Australians Jack Bobridge and Glen O'Shea, Madison World Champion David Muntaner, and recent six day winners Jasper de Buyst (Gent winner), Leif Lampater (Berlin winner) and Alex Rasmussen (Copenhagen winner).

With the UCI Track World Championship in Paris taking place in Paris this weekend, there is a good chance that fans will be welcoming new World Champions onto the London track. The event is rated UCI class 1, and competition is guaranteed to be high as riders look to claim vital UCI points ahead of next year's Olympic Games in Brazil.

The weekend features an action-packed schedule of racing including international Madison and Derny races, while Laura Trott will take to the track in the elite women's Derny Race.

"The only time I've raced a Derny was back in 2010, and I became National Champion," said Trott, "so I've got a pretty good record so far! It'll be nice to do something a bit different, and with the insane atmosphere that there always is in London, I'm hoping to continue my 100% record.

"It's my last time on the track for a while too, as I'll have finished the World Track Champs already, so I'll be taking a short break before getting onto the road with my new team, Matrix Fitness."

The programme also includes the UCI Men's Sprint and Keirin, and the now infamous special Sprinters Revolution Longest Lap (aka the Marymoor Crawl). This novelty event requires riders to trackstand without crossing the start line for up to 4 minutes until the bell rings, at which point it's an all-out sprint for a single lap.

Competitors who touch the ground or cross the line before the bell are eliminated and face the roll of shame back to the pits. It's become a firm favourite with the fans, and the YouTube video of last year's race featuring Adam Blythe and Ben Swift has clocked up over 170,000 views. Confirmed competitors for this year include Callum Skinner, Maximilian Levy and Jeffrey Hoogland.

The Saturday could see history being made as Dame Sarah Storey attempt to break the women's UCI Hour Record. Among the fans cheering her on will be UCI President, Brian Cookson who will be in the stands to watch the first ever women's attempt following the rule changes last year.

Jack Bobridge, who unsuccessfully attempted to break the men's record last month, and who will be competing at Round 5 said of Storey's attempt, "It's one of the hardest challenges that a cyclist can take on, and the most surreal strain you'll ever put your body through in the saddle. The challenge doesn't really sink in until after the first 20 minutes, which is when it really hits you, but I'm sure Sarah will have trained for this. Sarah's one of the world's top riders and I wish her the best of luck for a great ride."
