Here it is, the official 2012 Tour de France route, hot off the internet!

To my untrained eye this Tour looks to be one for an all-rounder, like Cadel Evans again, dare I say. Two ITTs, equaling double the distance of last year’s, will give strong rouleurs an advantage over pure climbers, like ever-the-bridesmaid Andy Schleck. Add to that the lack of huge mountain stages (at least compared with last year) and I’d say we could see a lot of action where we least expect it next year.

If my French is good enough to understand, Christian Prudhomme said that the TWO Etapes du Tour next year will be announced in L’Equipe tomorrow. Otherwise, the Etape du Tour site will have it all up, too. This blog won’t be far behind, I can assure you that!

Want a little reading material on the Tour? Try these for primers. I’ve got plenty more cycling books in my bookstore.
