BERLIN, Germany - Entries are now open for the 2013 Velothon Berlin, one of the most enjoyable (and least mountain filled) closed roads sportives in Europe. The 2013 Velothon will take place on Sunday June 9 2013.

There are two courses, one over 60km and one of 120km and last year 13,000 riders took part. Entry costs around 60 euros (see below for pricing details) and are available from the Velothon Berlin official website. Registration closes on 4 June or when the event has sold out.

The Velothon Berlin course goes through the most famous parts of the capital city of Berlin and outwards to the bordering province of Brandenburg. Highlights include the Brandenburg Gate, Rote Rathaus (Red Town Hall), Potsdamerplatz (Potsdam Square), Eastside Gallery, Alexanderplatz and the Reichstag.

It is the first year that Garmin has sponsored the event, having taken over from Skoda. Endura will provide a range of Velothon clothing available to participants in the sportive.

An unusual feature that may be of particular appeal to foreign riders is that high quality road bikes are available to hire from race partner Pino Touren & Rennrad Vermietung - details are available on the organiser's website.
