Laura Trott and Marianne Vos will face off on the track on Saturday night as the opening round of the new Revolution Series visits London's Olympic Velodrome. The two stars of women's cycling headline a stellar line-up of track and road stars including Team Sky's Ben Swift and Ian Stannard, alongside fellow British stars Ed Clancy (Rapha Condor JLT),  Alex Dowsett (Movistar), and RideLondon-Surrey Classic winner Adam Blythe (NFTO).

The weekend's action will see some rivalries from the road taken onto the track, with Team Sky versus Orica-GreenEDGE and Laura Trott versus Marianne Vos playing out in the iconic Lee Valley VeloPark in London.

Newly crowned European Track Champion and Double Olympic Track Champion, Laura Trott will enjoy home advantage against rival and Olympic Road Champion Marianne Vos, setting up a tantalising contest between the two leading female cyclists in the world at the moment. What makes the match up even more interesting is that the clash will take place on Trott's preferred surface, as the riders swap the tarmac for the wooden boards for the first time.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back onto the track in London and kick starting my season, hopefully with a win in front of a home crowd," commented Trott, who recently signed for Matrix-Vulpine. "It'll be interesting to test myself against someone as talented as Marianne Vos, although I'm hoping to have the edge on the track even though I'm sure she'll push me all the way."

Aiming to spoil the party for the two Olympic Champions will be in form British riders Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker, who both also triumphed at the European Track Championships. The riders will be joining an international field in an Omnium contest with crucial UCI points available ahead of the start of the World Cup season.

In the men's racing, leading British teams including Team Sky, Rapha Condor JLT, NFTO and Madison- Genesis, will pit themselves against Australian cycling powerhouse Orica-GreenEDGE. The home riders will compete alongside a selection of top international cyclists, including Dutchman Jens Mouris, Australian track specialist Scott Sunderland, former Madison World Champion Kenny de Ketele, and six-day specialists Christian Grasmann and Marcel Kalz.

Other highlights of the packed race programme include the British Cycling National Madison Championships (Friday evening) and a special version of the Marymoor Crawl (Saturday afternoon) - a unique race which opens with a gruelling track stand contest before riders sprint for victory over a single lap. If you haven't seen it before, the Marymoor Crawl is a bit like those go-slow races you may have had with your friends as a child. Definitely one to look out for if you're heading along tomorrow - check out the video at the link back there to see for yourself.
