Yorkshire cycling weekend featuring le Tour de Yorkshire

An exclusive trip to watch next year's Tour de Yorkshire over the May bank holiday weekend staying in Ilkley, one of the host towns. Watch the pros and ride sections of the route as well as other great roads in the Yorkshire Dales

You will experience the excitement of a summit finish and the tension of the final day of both the men’s and the women’s race.

This 4 day package offered by Yorkshire Velo Tours includes:

• Friday 4th to Monday 7th May
• Experience a summit finish on the famous Cow and Calf climb
• Watch the race on the super-exciting final day
• 3 nights B&B accommodation in Ilkley (one of the host towns)
• Ride parts of the Tour de Yorkshire Route
• 3 group rides - Sat/Sun/Mon (grouped by ability)
• Local expert ride leaders
• Mechanical support from Cytech qualified mechanic

The 2018 Tour de Yorkshire will be bigger and better than ever before with the race now extended to 4 days and will attract many big name riders as part of their preparation for the Tour de France. This trip will allow you to ride some of the route that the pros will be racing on as well as watch the action right up close. Guests will get to watch a summit finish and the final day of the men’s race. If you’ve never witnessed this before, it’s a great experience and carries a real buzz!

The weekend will comprise a mix of watching the Tour de Yorkshire and cycling some of the route as well as other great roads. On the rides there will be 2 ride groups heading in the same direction, with one group for intermediate/advanced riders and a second group covering less distance at a slower pace.

Trip Itnerary

FRIDAY: ARRIVAL AND WATCH A SUMMIT FINISH

• Spectate both the women’s and the men’s races finish on the famous Cow and Calf climb in Ilkley
• Ideally arrive by lunchtime to watch the women’s race finale
• Walk down into Ilkley for lunch 
• Late afternoon watch the men’s race finish 
• Early evening drink and dinner (option of group dinner)

SATURDAY: GROUP RIDE

• Full day ride heading out to Haworth experiencing some of the best roads and scenery in Yorkshire, including sections of the 2014 Tour de France route and the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire Day 4
• Depart 9:30am, cafe stop on route, arrive back in Ilkley by 5pm 
• Group evening dinner at a local independent restaurant. Option to eat separately if you prefer

SUNDAY: GROUP RIDE AND WATCH THE FINAL STAGE

• Full day ride out to watch the riders on one of the last climbs of the final day when the heat of the race will be on!
• Optional group dinner or chill out

MONDAY: MORNING RIDE AND DEPART

• Gentle cafe ride in the morning prior to departure
