The Garmin Velothon Berlin has been going since 2008 and is now a well established sportive that takes in some of Berlin's most famous sites. It is a closed roads event and 13,000 riders took part in 2012. There are two race distances - 60km for beginners and 120km for regular sportive riders. There is also a kids Velothon. The route is almost completely flat and takes in sites such as Brandenburger Tor, Potsdamer Platz, Tempelhof Airport, Eastside-Gallery, Regierungsbezirk, Siegessäule and the final straight in the Straße des 17. Juni. 250,000 spectators lined the route last year and this will be one of the most spectacular sportives in Europe during 2013. More details when the organisers post them!
