UWCT Skyros Cycling Challenge

Skyros Cycling Challenge is a combined sportive and qualification event for the UWCT amateur cycling world championships held on the Greek island of Skyros.

It comprises three events: an individual time trial, a road race, and a non-competitive sportive.

Individual Time Trial (22 May)

The organizers chose an almost flat terrain, 21.2km long, for the Individual Time Trial event. The start and finish areas of the race lie at the main port of the island in ''Linaria'', but the riders finish the race before the last descent, which drives them back to the port. The race starts with a hill 300m long and crosses the main road of the island, which connects the port with the centre of the island.

Road Race (24 May)

A race, about 116 km long, in 2 different parts of the island has been scheduled. The riders are called to start from Linaria port, past the main village of Chora twice (total distance 60km race for experience riders and 60+ male and female riders) and go on with one big round on the north part of the island, 55.4km long. The first part of the race will reach a total of 506m altitude and in the second north part the riders must climb up to 1190m. The course is of a total 1700m altitude in a mountainous terrain, with several smaller hill climbs. In some short points there are several up hills and the participants are asked to cross a narrow stone road (a different note to the feeling of the race) 70m long, three times.

"Experience" Sportive (24 May)

A race, about 61.4 km long, has been scheduled. The riders are called to start from Linaria port, past the main village of Chora twice (total distance 61.4km race for experience riders. This part of the race will reach a total of 926m altitude. The course is in a hilly terrain, with several dynamic small climbs. In addition the participants are asked to cross a narrow stone road (a different note to the feeling of the race) 70m long, two times.
