The Shap Spring Classic uses the quieter roads and lanes between the Eastern Lakes and The Pennines. The route begins at Shap and heads south, over Orton Fell soon followed by the fast descent into Orton itself. Continuing south the route reaches Tebay before skirting under The Howgill Fells on stunning lanes to Sedburgh. From here the route crosses into the Pennines and after a steady climb past Cautley Spout and Mallerstang there will be a well earned Feed Station at Kirby Stephen.
Riders then follow the route north through the quiet lanes and rolling terrain of the Eden Valley and the picturesque villages of Great Asby and King’s Meaburn. Eventually dropping through the Lowther Estate and the last leg following the River Lowther to Bampton Grange before the final climb up past Rosgill to the Finish.
