The Haldon Heroic CX Sportive

The Haldon Heroic CX Sportive is a new event for 2015 and is being run in association with Colin Lewis Cycles. It will take place from Exeter Racecourse on Saturday 21st March 2015. The On-line Entry opened on December 31st. Places are limited to 200 and this unique event is expected to sell out quickly so early registration is recommended.

The Haldon Heroic is a new enduro style event over mixed terrain, designed specifically as a Sportive for the cyclo-cross rider. The Haldon Heroic offers you a choice of three routes. Mini (13 miles) Medio (46 miles) and Mega (59 miles). The main Haldon Heroic Sportive course is 34 miles and takes you across a mixture of roads, tracks & bridleways within the Teignbridge area. This route is not timed, so you can just enjoy the route at your own pace. Along this route there are three Forest Stages. These will be timed and form the competitive element of this event. Stage 1 is 1.8 miles, stage 2 is 2.2 miles and stage 3 is 8 miles. The complete Medio route is 46 miles.

For those looking for something a bit easier, there is the CX Sportive Mini route. This 13 mile course uses quiet roads to link three off-road Forest stages around Haldon. Stage A is 2.5 miles, Stage B is 2 miles and Stage C is 2.8 miles. Each of these stages will be timed, forming the competitive element of the mini CX course.

For the adventurous, looking for a real tough endurance challenge, the Mega Haldon Heroic combines the two routes with all six timed stages, offering you a gruelling 59 miles of mix-terrain cycling.
