Our annual sportive is back! We are delighted that, after a two year pause, our popular cycling event returns on Sunday 22nd May at the Dudley Kingswinford Rugby and Football Club.

This sportive forms part of our 40th birthday celebrations, so we hope you can join us! You can register for the event on this page, once registered you will receive a confirmation email with details of when you’ll receive your registration pack and how to maximise your sponsorship for Compton.

Your registration fee covers the cost of putting on this event. It is your sponsorship that will help us to continue to provide our care and support to our patients and their families across Wolverhampton, the Black Country, South Staffordshire and East Shropshire.

As in previous years, the event will start and finish at Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club (DY6 0AW). There will be three route options which take in the breath-taking scenery of Shropshire countryside. Since the event's inception in 2016, we raised over £109,000 to support our vital work. We hope you will join us this year to help us

We are proud to be supported, once again, by cycling legend and Compton Patron, Hugh Porter MBE. Hugh has been involved in this event right from the start and is passionate about making this event a huge success.

The routes

Choose from one of three routes which will challenge all levels of riders, from the beginner to the experienced:

  • Hugh Porter Challenge - £25 / 25 miles / short

This ride follows quiet lanes in Worfield and Calverley and then into Pattingham. After a moderate 1000ft climb, participants cross the finish line at DK Rugby Club. The route is an achievable distance and would be suitable for those new to cycling events.

  • Compton Care Classic - £30 / 64 miles / medium

A picturesque ride out to Bridgnorth, before heading around the Wrekin and back to the finish line via the Ironbridge Gorge. This route, with a total climbing range of 3800ft, is ideal for those who want to take on an adventurous challenge.

  •   The Carvers' Epic - £35 / 101 miles / long

Our most challenging route goes deep into the scenic Shropshire countryside and includes a big climb through the Long Mynd, before returning to DK Rugby Club via the Wrekin. This route is for well-trained cyclist who relishes a challenge and enjoy the 6700ft climb!
