This Sportive is designed to keep you riding throughout the winter and get those base miles in your legs as part of your winter training. As cycling gear gets better there is no reason not to enjoy cycling all year round!
The famous well equipped Sparsholt Agricultural College plays host to the Ordnance Survey January Insanity Sportive.
This winter sportive uses safe all weather roads combined with regular ‘warm’ feedstations to provide you with a hot cuppa and food to keep the spirits high and energy levels topped up.
The venue has instant access to the quiet lanes of the Test Valley, the route first heads east over the rolling Downs towards Kings Worthy and the picturesque Itchen Valley. Broad vistas await as you climb into the South Downs and onward to the beautiful Meon Valley.
It’s a who's who of Hampshire’s finest! The turn for home comes at Droxford where you will encounter a few leg awakening climbs as the route heads west over Corhampton Down. Twyford and Otterbourne provides some architectural and historical interest as you head to the outskirts of Winchester for the last climb up through Olivers Battery and onto the venue for a well-earned brew and medal!
The route is a little lumpy without being too testing and is a great opportunity for some winter base miles in style.
