GIRONA CYCLING FESTIVAL AND GRAN FONDO

Organized by Club Ciclista Bike Breaks and supported by the Girona Cycle Centre we are planning an even bigger event for 2015. With new events and improved courses we are building on the success of 2014 to make this the even more unforgettable!!

The 2015 festival will include:

• Daily group ride for all levels
• Pasta Party
• Timed hill climb with big prizes
• BBQ
• Urban downhill
• Twilight crit in the medieval old town
• Pre-Fondo party
• Gran Fondo in the Volcanic natural park
• Post race lunch

JUNE 2015 PROGRAMME

Monday 15th

10:00 to 14:00: Registration and race pack collection for hill climb from Race Office at Carrer Mercaders, 16

10:00: Morning Group Ride

Tuesday 16th

10:00 to 14:00: Registration and race pack collection for Hill climb from Race Office at Carrer Mercaders, 16

11:00: HILL CLIMB, 10.4 KM (6 MILES) +404M

The week kicks off with the now infamous uphill time trial to the Els Angels monastery. The bar was set very high at the 2014 event and we expect a good turnout for this special closed road event

Wednesday 17th

10:00: Race village opens

10:00 to 14:00: Registration and race pack collection from race village

10:00: Morning group ride from race village

20:00: In the evening the Catalan meal (silver and gold entry)

Thursday 18th

9:00 - 14:00: Registration and race pack collection from race village

10:00: Morning group ride from race village

18:00: Urban downhill: This event is an amazing and incredible urban downhill exhibition by the best local riders dropping down through the old town of Girona starting at the top of Torre Gironella

20:30: GIRONA NOCTURNE, 10 LAPS x 2.06 KM (1 MILES) +37M

Start and finish in the race village this totally unique twilight crit runs through Girona’s old town at dusk. For 2015 we will have a new course but will retain the now infamous timed uphill section on cobbles

22:00: Post-Race party in Race Village

Friday 19th

10:00 to 14:00: Registration and race pack collection from Race Village

10:00: Morning Group Ride

21:00: Pre-Race Party (gold and silver entry)

Saturday 20th

7:30 - 9:00: Registration and race pack collection from race village

9:00: GIRONA GRAN FONDO, 125 KM (78 MILES) +1.683M

The main event!
Again building on the success of the 2014 event, we have kept this very popular circuit largely unchanged but we have added more feed stations to the beautiful 125km loop taking the entrants on a breathtaking ride through the Garrotxa Volcanic region
