The 15th annual Exmouth Exodus will take place on the night of Saturday 21 August 2021.

The Exmouth Exodus is a free to enter, semi-organised ride from Bath to Exmouth that runs through the night and takes about 10 hours to complete.

There are no tickets and you don't need to book in advance or pay to enter - simply turn up at the start and ride!

Start: Green Park station, Bath - 9.30pm Saturday 21 August 2021.

Finish: The Harbour View Cafe on the Exmouth esplanade.

Inspired by the Dunwich Dynamo, the Exmouth Exodus is a roughly 158km (98 miles) ride, although it follows a different route every year. It is a lot hillier than the Dun Run and far fewer people take part - between 100 and 300 riders is the normal number, depending on the weather.

People who have ridden the Exmouth Exodus praise the camaraderie of the event and the friendliness of all the riders; remember, this is not an organised event and it is definitely not a sportive.

The ride leaves from Green Park station in the centre of Bath at 9.30pm and finishes at the at the Harbour View Cafe on the Exmouth esplanade. The ride starts out through the famous Two Tunnels and then goes to Tunley (15km), over the Mendip Hills (36km), to Shapwick (67km), High Ham (74km), over the Blackdown Hills (106km, max elevation of 307 metres) and then somewhat downhill to Exmouth. The ride has roughly 1,900 metres of climbing, so it's manageable but very far from a flat route.

You should be aware that the ride is unsupported and there is no broom wagon or support vehicles. If you do find that you  need to stop half way through, the route gets pretty close to Taunton and that would be the obvious place to give up and get the train home again (albeit you will have to wait until the trains start on a Sunday morning).

Bring good lights! You need a strong front light as some of the local roads are pretty rutted and/or potholey (I think I just made up a word...) and a rear light that will allow you to be spotted by people driving too quickly back from the pub on a Saturday night.

There are two food stops, the first at at Cheddar where the local Scout group provides plenty of cakes and then the main tea stop is just after half way, at Neroche Hall outside Bickenhall.

There is no transport arranged back from Exmouth. You need to either take the train, ride back or get a loved one to pick you up.
