This year the Etape Mourne will include both a 101km and a 45km route. Both routes will depart and return to Hilltown , in the heart of the beautiful Mourne Mountains. The newly introduced 45km route will offer the opportunity for those who are new to cycling or who havent ridden in the Mourne Mountains before the opportunity to ride through the stunning landscape and to have one climb over Spelga Dam.
The 101km route will be a more testing route with stunning climbs and descents including 3 climbs over Spelga. For those who have enjoyed the recent Gran Fondo the routes will offer you another opportunity to ride over and through the stunning landscape of the Gateway To The Mournes.
Confirmed in a new time slot in the cycling calendar, the Etape acts as the culmination of the sportive season and whether you are a whippet-like club rider straining to achieve the gold standard time or looking for a more leisurely but challenging day out in the saddle, this is the event for you.
Just remember to look up and take in the stunning landscapes of the Mourne Mountains and you could believe it is the Monte Lauren Jalabert from Stage 14 that you are climbing and not the Kilkeel Road.
