The Etape du Dales is a tough sportive in the Yorkshire Dales that takes in 3,500 metres of climbling over its 112 mile route.

It is a charity ride in aid of the Dave Raynor Fund, which supports young up and coming British cyclists and is in memory of the 1960s cyclist who was such a succesful youth rider.

Starting and ending in Threshfield, near Grassington, the Etape du Dales is tough when the weather is fair and is exceedingly difficult for even the most experienced cyclist when the weather is cold, wet and windy.

Why not read Dan McCausland's 2014 Etape du Dales ride report.

Riders are advised to bring cold weather gear and plenty of inner tubes as multiple punctures can be expected, especially in wet conditions.

Gold time is under seven hours and silver time is under eight hours. All other finishers receive a bronze certificate.
