Evans Cycles have cancelled all their remaining 2020 Ride It sportives. A statement on the Evans website cites uncertainty over the coronavirus pandemic for the decision.

New entries will no longer be accepted for 2020 Ride It events, with customers who have already booked a place receiving a refund.

Evans has cancelled the entire 2020 Ride It series of sportives.

The Ride It series is one of the UK's biggest sportive brands, with around 40 road and MTB sportives across England, Scotland and Wales. Back in March Evans announced that 10 sportives were to be axed, with rising costs and falling rider numbers given as the reason.

The coronavirus lockdown appears to have been the final straw for this year's series, with Evans taking the decision to cancel the entire 2020 programme.

A short statement on the Evans website says:

"Due to the high level of uncertainty brought about by Covid-19 we have taken the decision to stop taking new entries for all RIDE IT 2020 events. For those riders who have already entered an event we will be cancelling their entries and issuing refunds in the coming weeks."

The coronavirus pandemic has laid waste to this year's sportive programme in the UK and Europe. Some events like Mallorca 312, La Marmotte and the Dirty Reiver have been postponed to new dates later in 2020.

Other sportives, including Velo Birmingham & Midlands and Velo Essex, have been cancelled entirely, while uncertainty remains over this year's Etape du Tour.

Another of the UK's biggest sportive organisers, UK Cycling Events, has taken some of its sportives online, with riders receiving medals for completing a set distance over a number of outdoor or indoor rides.
