Fancy a free entry to Velo North? This year sees the first edition of the newest sportive in the Velo series, with a 100-mile course on closed roads starting and finishing in the beautiful city of Durham.
The ride takes place on Sunday 1 September 2019. Entries cost £75, but you could win one of 100 free entries - all you have to do is take part in the Velo North Strava challenge and ride 50 miles over the course of 10 days.
The challenge runs from 24 May - 3 June, with a bank holiday conveniently thrown in to maximise your chances of getting a decent spin.
100 lucky cyclists will be selected at random to receive a free entry for Velo North, described by David Millar as "simply spellbinding... the most beautiful organised ride in the UK."
With a choice of 100-mile or 50-mile routes taking in the North Penines AONB, that may be a good shout. Along the way you'll encounter England's highest paved road with the climb of Chapel Fell, accounting for a significant chunk of the 2200m of climbing on the long route.
Whichever course you decide on, you'll have the the reassurance of moto outriders, feed stops and the luxury of racking up a half or full century on traffic-free roads.
You can check out some of the route for yourself, with David Millar and ex-England rugby unit Martin Johnson, as they headed out for a recce ride in the fog:
