Entries for Velothon Wales 2018 are now open. The 2018 edition of the popular closed roads sportive will take place on Sunday 8 July in Cardiff, with up to 18,000 cyclists expected to take part in what has become one of the UK's biggest cycling events.
Velothon Wales offers cyclists a rare chance to experience the stunning scenery of South Wales on traffic-free roads. A UCI 1.1 pro race follows the sportive, providing a chance to see some of the world's best cyclists in action up close after your ride.
The event is a superb opportunity to test your endurance or fundraise for a worthy cause. Routes start and finish in the heart of Cardiff, and take in some of Wales' most breathtaking scenery including an ascent of The Tumble climb that will test the legs of even the most seasoned climbers.
A choice of distances mean there's something for every level of ability or ambition - for seasoned sportive riders, charity fundraisers or new cyclists looking to experience closed-road cycling for the first time.
An organisational change for 2018 will see a host of tweaks to the event, including race pack postage, meaning riders no longer have to arrive a day early to pick up race essentials. There will also be two brand-new shorter routes, allowing cyclists of all abilities to get involved with the Velothon Wales weekend.
