Velo South will not take place in 2019, organisers have confirmed. Velo Birmingham & Midlands and a new sportive, Velo North, are planned instead.

Following the disastrous abandonment of the Vélo South 2018 (forecast high winds and heavy rain forced organisers to call it off on the Thursday before the event), organisers are planning for a 2020 edition of this 100 mile closed road sportive in West Sussex.

Based at the Goodwood Motor Racing circuit in West Sussex, the route has 1,100 metres of climbing and goes through some of the most beautiful parts of West Sussex. The climbs of Coombe Hill and Harting Hill are towards the end of the ride, proving a tough challenge for most riders.

15,000 riders signed up for the 2018 event, which sold out weeks beforehand. That makes it one of the biggest sportives in the country and it is also a rare one that is run on closed roads in the south of England.
