Bucks Road Sportive

Well time flies and our 8th road sportive is just around the corner ,this event which has 2 distances to choose from, 101 and 85km is regarded as a good test of early fitness with over 1300 Metres of climbing on the long route. As everyone enjoyed the routes last year we have kept them the same for this year so the regulars can see how their fitness rates with another years mielage in their legs..

Although the event starts in Hertfordshire the route goes straight into Buckinghamshire and around the Chiltern Hills, and takes in Chipps Hill, Chinnor Hill and Winter Hill . The routes follow a mixture of mainly quiet B roads and some lanes, therefore the lightest race tyres are not recommended.

A sag wagon will be available for anyone suffering a mechanical failure.

Riders will be given a free energy bar or gel on signing on and we are working on finishing medals for those completing the ride

The HQ is the Chiltern Sports and Social club, this has a licensed bar and tea/coffee and refreshments will be available. 

Entry is limited to 300 riders so please ensure you pre enter to be guaranteed a space.

Riders will be set out in groups from 9.a.m.  to lessen any inconvenience to other road users, we will try and set groups off in ability groups, all the rules of the road must be obeyed .

As always the routes will be well marked with fluorescent arrows and GPX links will be sent to all entered riders the week pre ceding the ride.

On line entry closes the Wednesday before the ride, subject to there still be room, on the day entries will be available at a surcharge.

For those that enjoyed off road riding as well as on road why not check out our off road sportive which is in its 20th year and takes place on the 13th May where the weapons of choice are normally either cross bikes or hard tail MTBs , although also suitable to gravel bikes this is a 3 distance event 40/80/120 and the routes use a similar area to the road route but uses the bridleways in the area.
