The Lakelander Gravel Grinder, Ireland's top gravel challenge, has announced an exciting new addition for 2025.

The Werewolf will be a thrilling 32km night gravel ride, held on Friday 3 October, and promises an unforgettable adventure under the stars (or clouds, weather dependent).

Set to take place between 7:00-9:00pm on the evening before the Lakelander, this unique event will give riders the chance to explore some trails previously unridden in the main Lakelander Gravel Grinder.

"Introducing the Werewolf is about creating something completely different for our participants," said event director Rowan McMahon.

"Riding under the stars, in the dark, is an entirely new way to experience these beautiful trails. It's another test of physical endurance before the main event the following day, and we're excited to offer this fresh challenge to our ever-growing community of gravel riders."

The event will feature 32km of mixed terrain, combining gravel roads and forest paths. The darkness adds an extra element of thrill, with riders required to use their own bike-mounted lights to safely navigate the trails.

While participants will enjoy the tranquillity of the night, the ride will also feature plenty of challenges, ensuring a thrilling ride for all.

Riders will return to base at approximately 9.00pm, just in time for some food and to prepare for the main Lakelander Gravel Grinder the following day. That is, if the werewolf doesn't get them...
