Organisers of the Tour de Gwent sportive have announced a change of date to avoid clashing with the final stage of this year's Tour of Britain.
Originally set for 10 September 2023, the popular charity sportive will now take place two weeks later - on Sunday 24 September - after it emerged that the Tour of Britain finale would be staged on Caerphilly Mountain on the same day.
It is the first time in 10 years that the South Wales climb will feature in the Tour of Britain. The decisive leg of the eight-stage race will start from another noted sportive venue, Margam Country Park in Port Talbot, which hosts the infamous Dragon Ride each June.

Responding to the date change, the organisers of the Tour de Gwent sportive said:
"Tour de Gwent in aid of St David's Hospice Care was scheduled to take place on Sunday September 10th 2023. This week, the Tour of Britain has launched its final stage which finishes on Caerphilly Mountain on the same date as our planned event.
"Due to the clash in these two massive cycling events in South Wales on the same day, we thought it only fair to make way for the Tour of Britain to give all cycling enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy BOTH events.
"Therefore, the Tour de Gwent will move two weeks later to Sunday September 24th 2023. Moving the date has been a difficult decision, but we hope that by doing so, even more of you will be able to join us at the Whitehead Tour de Gwent."

Entries are still open for the Tour de Gwent, which offers riders a choice of six distances ranging from a free four-mile kids route to the 93-mile (150km) long distance.
Based in the Roman town of Caerleon, the ride is fully supported with feed stations and mechanical aid along the route to ensure entrants enjoy a spectacular day's cycling.
Proceeds from the event help support the work of St David's Hospice Care, making a positive difference to patients and their families all throughout Newport, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Torfaen and South & Mid Powys.
Entry starts at £40 which includes an event jersey along with mechanical and medical aid, motorcycle marshals and food and water stops. The event village will also have a range of refreshments stalls and live music with a licensed bar, family activities and much more to enjoy.
