First held in 2013, the Rapha Women's 100 is a celebration of women's cycling and the community it creates around the world. Last year saw over 8000 women ride 100km on the same day, and on 14th September 2019, team-mates, friends, those new to the sport and racers alike will once again take up the challenge.
To promote the campaign, the CANYON//SRAM women's cycling team are swapping out their usual team colours for six days at the OVO Women's Tour of Britain. The race takes place between 10-15th June, and the team will race in a special edition Rapha kit to encourage women to participate in the global Rapha Women's 100 event.
The CANYON//SRAM team illustrate Rapha's investment in women's sport, and with gender parity still a distant dream in cycling the Women's Tour of Britain is one of the best examples of equal media coverage, winnings, infrastructure and team support.
Ronny Lauke, the Team Manager and Sports Director said: "The OVO Women's Tour sets the current gold standard of bike races in women's cycling. Built from scratch, it is one of the best organised stage events within professional racing.
"Media coverage is outstanding and the prize purse is also amongst the highest in the sport. Every day the roads are packed with spectators, the start and finish areas are filled with fans having close access to their heroes; it's the perfect stage to do the Rapha Women's 100 kit changeout and inspire hundreds of women to ride together."
But it's not just about the professionals. Rapha encourages all female cyclists to join the global community and set up independent Women's 100 rides in their local areas. Rapha Clubhouses will host official rides led by Rapha ride leaders around the world which will be available to sign up on rapha.cc/womens100 on June 15th.
Canyon will also organise Women's 100 rides on September 14th. To support the kit changeout at the OVO Women's Tour Canyon produced a special edition team bike inspired by the Women's 100 colours.
The Rapha Women's 100 2019 design continues to draw inspiration from the Women's 100 logo and the popular navy and coral colours of previous years. The Women's 100 collection will be available from June 15th to enable women to train in the kit in the run up to the global rides on September 14th.
The collection includes kit for both racing and training, plus accessories.
