Musette Café, a brand new cycling-themed cafe, has opened its doors in the Chilterns. Measuring 1,200 sq feet and with capacity for up to 100 cyclists at a time, Musette offers visitors a premium destination serving fine coffee, savouries and cake.

"We're thrilled to open Musette cafe in the heart of the Chilterns, following many months of research and planning," said Simon Voysey, co-founder of Musette and founder of local cycling club Berkhamsted CC.

"As avid cyclists, we recognised that the Chilterns lacked a genuine destination café. Aldbury is a great location for the outdoor community - with a myriad of road and off-road routes for cyclists on our doorstep - as well as incredible trails for runners and hikers," he added.

Musette shares its location with premium cycle and run brand ashmei, whose UK head office has been based on the site since September 2012.

"This is a real destination - a place to ride to and stop for a great coffee," commented ashmei founder Stuart Brooke.

"In my opinion, there was nothing around the Chilterns that really hit the mark before Musette opened its doors. The Chilterns is full of fellow cyclists - just check the Strava map for confirmation. What's more, Toms Hill, which starts a quarter of a mile from our HQ, is an iconic destination for most. It therefore seemed to make sense to try and make Aldbury the centre of a new cycling hub for those riding the Chilterns," said Stuart.

Musette fellow co-founder Simon Gill is a professional cycling photographer whose work has featured on many of the industry's magazine front covers - including this year's Official Guide to the Tour de France. Simon's photography can be seen on the walls of Musette Cafe with prints available for purchase.

"Our idea was to create a platform not just for my work, but for local artists and photographers - and not just confined to cycling. We've been delighted with the response so far and are currently in the midst of curating our first Art Fair at the end of November", he said.

'We feel extremely fortunate to work so closely with ashmei - sharing their HQ to create a genuine hub for cyclists, runners and walkers. At the weekend, we are not only retailing ashmei product but are ultimately, also looking forward to co-hosting events, as well as club and corporate rides," concluded Simon Voysey.

Open from mid September 2018 to coincide with the climax of the cycling season, Musette is a spacious venue hosting photography, art exhibitions and film screenings.

And more importantly, it looks a perfect stop for that all-important cake and coffee break on your Sunday club run.
