Yorkshire's toughest 100 miles sportive is now open for entries for cyclists looking for a 2018 challenge that will deliver on lung-busting climbs, breathtaking scenery and a parcours to test even the hardiest riders.

Struggle Dales is Struggle Events' flagship event. The route takes in 108 miles, covering almost 10,000ft and boasts the Yorkshire Dales' most sought-after climbs including Greenhow Hill, Park Rash and Malham Cove.

The Struggle returns in May 2018 for a tour of some of the Dales' toughest climbs.

"This event has gained cult status," say the organisers, "with riders travelling from all over the UK and Europe to test their legs against Yorkshire's most notorious roads."

But don't just take their word for it: here are a couple of five star reviews from their 2017 finishers:

"Served up exactly what it said on the tin! Brutal but great day out on the bike and the best organised event I've ever done" - Andrew Woods

"You want hills and the great Yorkshire countryside, then this is the sportive for you" - Andy Simpson

It even tested the legs of probably our fittest reporter - you can read Jim's report on the 2017 Struggle Dales here.

Yorkshire will host the 2019 World Cycling Championships over nine days in Harrogate, and Director of Struggle Events Ltd, Matthew Mannakee, is keen to encourage cyclists to tackle the Struggle for themselves:

"Anyone who has yet to experience riding their bike in Yorkshire, Struggle Dales is great way to visit Harrogate for the weekend and tick-off one of the toughest one-day rides in the UK.

"Although the routes for 2019 are yet to be announced, it is very likely the Road Championships will take in some of the same roads you will ride on the Struggle Dales next year" says Mr Mannakee.

Struggle Dales takes place on Sunday 27th May 2018 from the Harrogate Army Foundation College. Entry is priced £40 or £99 with the new Struggle finisher's jersey.
