Cycliq, the innovators behind the Fly6 and Fly12 camera-lights for bikes, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new product, Duo Mount.

Described as "a lightweight, super strong and beautifully designed multi-functional bike mount that attaches both your cycling computer and action camera to your bike", the mount is designed to be compatible with any device using the popular 'three fins' mounting system - that includes lights, cameras and bike computers from Garmin, Wahoo, Polar, CatEye and Mio/Magellan.

The campaign has already more than doubled its funding target of AUD20,000 (£12,300); with 28 days to go, backers have already pledged over AUD42,000.

Made from aircraft-grade 7075 aluminum, the Duo Mount is designed to be bothstrong and corrosion resistant. The Duo Mount is expected to weight 50g including cap and screw, and according to Cycliq, no other product available to cyclists offers the same level of multi-functionality at such a light weight.

Cycliq's patent pending design has a scalloped base to fit the mounting fins, making camera or lighting devices sit closer together with the head unit. Effectively this means the camera and bike computer sit closer to each other decreasing surface area and drag.

The Duo Mount uses the universal three fin mounting system so it's compatible with most bike computers.

The Cycliq Duo Mount is designed to hold a bike computer on top and an action camera below. Unlike other mounting solutions, the Duo Mount comes with the flexibility to attach almost any bike computer without having to purchase extra adaptors or accessories - it all comes in one pack.

Cycliq has a proven track record on Kickstarter with both Fly6 and Fly12 successfully funded on the platform. Both projects smashed their fundraising targets by 281% and 273% respectively.

Cycliq CEO Andrew Hagen said one of the main reasons behind launching the Duo Mount through Kickstarter was to reconnect with those who helped fund the company's early product development.

"The Kickstarter community helped build Cycliq into the company we are today and we are incredibly grateful for their support and enthusiasm," Mr Hagen said.

"In the early days, a great many people shared our vision for Fly6 and Fly12 and we would now like to give something back to those people as a sign of our appreciation.

"By launching the Duo Mount through Kickstarter, we're giving the crowdfunding community first opportunity to purchase the mount and will do so at a significant discount. It's a way of saying thank you for helping us to grow a successful business."

Cycliq would like to thank early adopters of the system by offering Duo Mount to Kickstarter fans at an extremely reduced price: currently the best deal available is AUD44 (£27) for a single pack. RRP for Duo Mount is expected to be £59.

The Kickstarter Campaign will run for 30 days ending on 1st December 2016. Mounts for the first 400 early backers are projected to begin shipping before the holiday season.
