If Easter indulgence has put a chocolatey dent in your spring fitness plans, then why not bounce back immediately with the Herts Easter Hunt sportive this weekend?
Now in its 3rd year, the organisers at SportiveUK have taken what was already a spectacular ride and carried on tweaking to make the Herts Easter Hunt a spring sportive that everyone can enjoy.
This well-timed early season sportive has something for all types of rider. The choice between 33, 64 and 96 mile routes will either gently ease, or drag you full-on into this year's cycling season.

As usual for a SportiveUK event, there will be well stocked feed stations (three if you happen to be on the long route!) a variety of treats and, the organiser say, "our now legendary homemade flapjacks". Also the fact that you'll be giving the legs a little workout will be an excuse to indulge in some chocolate eggs.
The medium and long routes lead riders through glorious countryside, visiting villages such as Dane End, Ardeley, Gravely and St Pauls Walden before the long split heads out West towards Whipsnade Zoo (not quite making it to see the wallabies) and returning to meet the medium route via Studham and Harpenden.

From the final feed stop there are just 18 miles to go, with cyclists heading through Burnham Green, Tewin and then finally up through Essenden (and the hill) back to the event HQ. Here you can enjoy some home food, chat about the great day you've had, and maybe even sample a craft beer direct from the Hoxon Brewery in Suffolk!
The Herts Easter Hunt takes place on Sunday 3 April. Event HQ is at Chancellor's School, Hatfield with nearby Potters Bar station offering excellent transport links to and from London. Entry costs £20 for the short route and £25 for medium and long routes. For more information and to sign up, visit www.sportiveuk.co.uk.
