Entries have opened for two of the most popular sportives in Wiggle's annual series: the French Revolution and Le Tricolore (formerly the French Resistance). Both sportives convene in Dover for the ferry trip across to Calais, and feature a day's riding through French countryside before sailing home the same evening.
The 2016 edition of the French Revolution takes place on Sunday 12 June, with a choice of 74 or 59-mile routes through the Caps et Marais d'Opale national park southwest of Calais.
Le Tricolore, on Sunday 11 September, covers largely the same territory as the French Revolution with a choice of 75 or 64-mile routes.
Entry costs £70 which includes the return ferry crossing (and, of course, a croissant). Both these French jaunts tend to sell out within days, so early registration is advisable.
It's a perfect opportunity for anyone yet to experience the pleasure of rolling down a ferry ramp for a day exploring new roads... And if you need further convincing, check out our Andy's report on riding the 2014 French Resistance:
