Entry for the 2015 Etape du Tour opened this morning, with 11,000 places on sale for the 142km sportive which takes place on Sunday 19 July 2015.

Registration for the Etape is through the official ASO Challenges website. As of Thursday lunchtime the event website is struggling with heavy traffic and a queuing system is in place. However, while places for the 2015 La Marmotte sold out in a record 10 hours earlier this week, Etape entrants should have a little more time to make their minds up - entries for the 2014 Etape sold out in January.

The 2015 Etape will follow the course of Stage 19 of next year's Tour de France. Riders will set out from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to a mountain finish in the ski resort of La Toussuire (Les Sybelles), taking in the Col du Glandon and the Col du Croix de Fer on the way in a route featuring some 4000m of climbing.

Why not check out our Etape du Tour page with reports from riders in last year's Etape, along with hints and tips for how to have the best experience possible. Hopefully the weather will be kinder than on this year's Etape...
