The Third Nut Sportive is an early season ride starting and finishing at Brecon Leisure Centre with the backdrop of the Brecon Beacons. A 110m and 65m cycle sportive with a fully signposted course. Both routes head out of Brecon following the A470 for a short while before crossing over the River Wye and up through Clyro to loop Kington. From here you head out on the Rhayader road before turning off towards Hundred House and Builth Wells where the long and short routes split. 

Short Route 65 miles – heads south back towards Brecon through lovely countryside and includes the Tour of Britain K.O.M climb at Cwm Owen.

Long Route 110 miles – heads west from Builth to Llanwrtyd Wells before turning off and following the River Irfon heading up into the hills and the infamous Devils staircase. After the staircase following the reservoir you head back to Llandovery then through Trecastle, Sennybridge and back into Brecon.

Rider registration opens at 7:00am and closes at 9:00am. 

Long Course starts at 8:00am, coverage till 5:00pm
Short course starts at 9:30am, coverage till 5:00pm

Feed stations manned with refreshments and limited spares. 

The event HQ is at Brecon Leisure Centre, Penlan, Brecon LD3 9SR. There is plenty of car parking at the event HQ, along with toilets, showers (if required) and changing facilities. 

There are no timing chips, with the aim to make it a great non-competitive but challenging day out for riders of all abilities. The event has been built on strava and gpx files will be available for download.

The route will be fully signposted. A sweep van will leave 30 mins after last riders to assist any mechanical breakdowns, however, it is expected that all riders will carry a spare tube/pump as a minimum and follow the rules of the road.
