Course Highlights:
Barbon Dale the second major climb out of the Lune Valley to be climbed and descended with caution the climb has a kick in the tail and the decent is ultra steep with a right turn at the bottom!
This climb of Barbon will be a special stage with timed accent and prizes on offer for the fastest.
The village of Dent and the first section of pave (well cobbles) this section is only 400 meters long but up hill, but not as up hill as the climb to come.
The climb of Kingsdale is the Cat 1 of the route and as steep as any in Sportives. The view from the top is worth it on a good day can see all of Morecambe Bay and Blackpool Tower.
The descent down to the feed in Ingleton is mostly straight and exhilarating with a short sharp climb to regulate the speed.
The ride from Ingleton is the chance to enjoy the views of all three peaks of the Yorkshire dales and hope the wind is blowing the right direction as you head towards Ribble Head viaduct and Dent dale Head.
Descend into Dent dale with its numerous viaducts and fast flowing river that may be on the road. To the long section of pave at 800 meters through the main village of Dent and back out towards Sedbergh.
The Howgill hills (sleeping elephants) are next into view and ones passing through Sedbergh the course follows the old Roman Road North clung to the side of the hills with the River Lune (& M6) for company.
Finish Where you started in behind the Leisure Centre. Times will be displayed on the website that afternoon. Hot drinks and showers will be available in the Registration Room (Lonsdale Suite).
