Now in its 10th year the Dragon Ride is one of the best known and most popular sportives on the British riding calendar.
The Gran Fondo route will include the climb of the Black Mountain and the “hill with no name” (Bryn Melyn or Devil’s elbow) which is in the middle of the Brecon Beacons. There will also be the Dragon Ride ’signature climbs’ of the Bwlch and Rhigos plus Cimla and Cray but the novelty for regular competitors in this sportive is that it will be run in the opposite direction compared to recent year.
The Medio Fondo will include Cimla, the Rhigos and the Bwlch as well as Coelbren and Glynneath Bank while the Corto route will be a circuit of Margam Mountain.
The Corto sportive has become part of the Cycletta series, a relatively new set of women-only bike rides, and is supported by Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton.
Tickets for the Dragon Ride usually sell out within days of going on sale.
