The first Vätternrundan took place in 1966 with just over 300 riders, and since then the ride has grown to be a must for cyclists worldwide. The event now attracts around 23,000 entrants each year, leading organisers to claim it is the world's largest recreational cycling event.

Despite the large field demand for entries is always sky-high and the ride is popular for many reasons.

Lake Vättern with its breath-taking scenery is the treat the participants enjoy around the whole course. Although it is a recreational bike ride the challenge is great and you need to be well prepared. Accomplishing 315kms on a bike around the beautiful Lake Vättern with start and finish in Motala is something to be proud of.
