Girona Cycling Festival

GIRONA CYCLING FESTIVAL AND GRAN FONDO

Organized by Club Ciclista Bike Breaks and supported by the Girona Cycle Centre we are planning an even bigger event for 2017. With new events and improved courses we are building on the success of 2016 to make this the even more unforgettable!!

The 2017 festival will include:

• Daily group ride for all levels
• Pasta Party
• Timed hill climb with big prizes
• BBQ
• Urban downhill
• Twilight crit in the medieval old town
• Pre-Fondo party
• Gran Fondo in the Volcanic natural park
• Post race lunch

2016 PROGRAMME

Monday 12th June

10:00 - 14:00 and 17:00 - 19:00: Race Office open at 16 Carrer Mercaders.

10:00: Morning Group Ride

Tuesday 13th June

09:15 - 10:00 - Bike Breaks open for bike collection

11:00: HILL CLIMB, 10.4 KM (6 MILES) +404M

The week kicks off with the now infamous uphill time trial to the Els Angels monastery. The bar was set very high at the 2014 event and we expect a good turnout for this special closed road event

14:00: Pasta Party Els Angels

17:00 - 19:00: Registration and race pack collection from Race Office at 16 Carrer Mercaders

Wednesday 14th June

10:00 - 14:00 and 17:00 - 19:00: Registration and race pack collection from race office

10:00: Morning group ride from race village

20:30: Catalan meal

Thursday 15th June

10:00 - 14:00 and 17:00 - 19:00: Registration and race pack collection from race village

10:00: Morning group ride from race village

18:00: Urban downhill: This event is an amazing and incredible urban downhill exhibition by the best local riders dropping down through the old town of Girona starting at the top of Torre Gironella

20:30: GIRONA NOCTURNE, 10 LAPS x 2.5 KM (+45M climbing)

Start and finish in the race village this totally unique twilight crit runs through Girona’s old town at dusk. For 2016 we will have a new course but will retain the now infamous timed uphill section on cobbles

22:00: Podiums and Post-Race party in Race Village

Friday 16th June

10:00 - 14:00 and 17:00 - 19:00: Registration and race pack collection from Race Village

Saturday 17th June

7:30 - 8:30: Registration and race pack collection from Race Village

9:00: GIRONA GRAN FONDO, 125 KM (78 MILES) (+1700M climbing)
