Entries are now open for Scotland's Tour O The Borders sportive 2025.

There aren't many closed-road sportives left in the UK, and Tour O The Borders lays claim to being the most scenic (although The Wales Sportive or even RideLondon-Essex may dispute this).

"Join us for what quite a few folk think is the best closed road sportive in the country," say the organisers.

"Stunning road cycling, unbelievable scenery, the best feed stations (stocked with fabulous locally produced food including the gold medal Forsyth's of Peebles Macaroni Pies) and of course, absolutely no cars!"

But even in this sparsely populated pocket of Scotland road closures attract controversy. The future of Touro was theatened recently by local opposition, with the result that this year's edition was cancelled.

Relations seem to be on the mend though: an open road version, LoveTouro, is taking place this year instead, and 2025 sees the return of closed roads with fresh commitment by the organisers to mitigate the event's impact and ensure that local communities see some benefit.

The 2025 edition will take place on 7 September in Peebles. The route is the same "new" route introduced in 2023; well, it's a choice of two routes with a 120km (1200m elevation) "Full" option and 88km (940m) "Challenge" distance on offer.

Entry is open now priced £84, or £89 if you'd like your entry pack posted to you in advance.

There's also a £10 earlybird discount on offer if you register by Friday 12 April, or you can save £20 if you enter this year's LoveTouro event as well.

You'll need to be quick though, both discounts are only valid for 24h so will expire at 5pm on Friday.

Hurry over to the event website to find out more and reserve yourself a piece of that Macaroni Pie: tourotheborders.com.
