Organisers SportiveHQ have released 100 additional entries for June's Flat 100 sportive.

The sell-out event attracts a large crowd each year for what is said to be one of the UK's flattest and fastest sportive routes.

This year's edition takes place on 8 June 2024, with event HQ at Trinity Academy in Thorne, South Yorkshire.

The initial allocation of 500 places sold out quickly, but the organisers have arranged an extra 100 entries which are on sale now at the event website.

Three distances are available on the Flat 100: 101 miles, 61 miles and 34 miles.

With just 632m (2073ft) of elevation gain over the 101 mile course, the Flat 100 makes an ideal entry point for riders looking to bag their first century.

Of course 100 miles is still a challenge: the organisers advise that entrants put in the training to be able to maintain an average speed of at least 13mph / 21kph.

"You don't need a particular bike, special clothing or anything to take part, just a desire to challenge yourself in a safe environment," says organiser Matt Porter of SportiveHQ.

"All of the routes are fully signed, there's a food stop half way round with everything you could need included, an emergency contact number if you need any mechanical help and other riders around should you need advice or someone to ride with.

"Many people use the Flat 100 as their first cycling event and do it as a sponsored bike ride for one of the local charities. Booking something early gives you an aim for the year ahead!"
