The Wiggle Northern Angel Sportive takes in the best sprawling Northumberland National Park roads, and plays host to a selection of climbs that will put your training to the test.

From the get go, we take you north heading for the Northumberland National Park and all the efforts and rewards that await. Over the first section of the course we ease you in gently on fast, free-flowing roads that will allow you to eat up the first few miles in no time. This however is short lived as we get to the edge of Northumberland National Park and amidst its rolling fells, some of the deceptive climbs on the way to Rothbury may just catch you out, if you are not careful.

After a long sweeping descent in to Rothbury, the short riders break away west for a trip along the river and the Coquet Dale, the standard and epic riders continue to push on north towards Whittingham before taking a left to pass through the likes of Alwiton, Harbottle and Sharperton on the edge of the National Park.

Once all routes have converged we head into the National Park for some great scenery and a punishing climb up Billsmoor Bank to the top, with views out over the ranges. We then drop down to Elsdon where the route splits for the final time sending the standard and short riders up Winter Gibbet, ranked number 61 in the 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs. This climb is not for the faint hearted. Epic riders heading out west have a no less challenging prospect as they pass through Otterburn before reaching as far as Bellingham and array of rolling climbs await along the likes of Corsenside and Hareshaw Common.

Converging in Cambo all routes head south for the finish, passing by Wallington House and Gardens and Bolam Country Park. The remaining miles are flat allowing you to finish strong on the last few miles back to the HQ.
