Departing from the stunning grounds of East Durham College, only one mile from the historic city of Durham, all three routes head toward the city and past Durham Universities impressive Palatine Building less than a mile in.

All routes now roll toward Lanchester where the routes spilt and medium and long head west towards the first feed at Stanhope. From the feed the long route will double back heading towards St Johns Chapel and the Pennines climb of Noon Hill. The route rolls through Newbiggin and onto Middleton-in-Teesdale before the climb up the Belmont Beauty and onto the Roman Road and descend the Bolihope.

Feed 2 is in Eggleston before reaching Hamsterly then eventually circumnavigating Bishop Auckland. Now heading east the final feed station is at Kirk Merrington before before cycling through the colliery villages of Fishburn and Trimdon.

On the route back you will cross over the A1(m) twice in a loop back round to Durham with a descent to the finish back at East Durham College.
