New for 2019, The Gert Lush is a "vintage bicycle jamboree" that looks set to be Britsol's answer to the popular L'Eroica events.

Taking place on Sunday 19 May, the event will feature a festival and a sportive with a choice of three distances, including one for children.

The organisers say:

"Welcome to the first The Gert Lush annual vintage bike jamboree.

We hope to see you on Sunday 19th May for a friendly day full of retro fun, Bristol fashion. In local parlance Gert Lush means really good and we've certainly an ambition to live up to the name.

You may be someone with an old bike in the shed, a longtime vintage enthusiast, a commuter, an Eroica veteran, a recycler, a fixie rider, a sportif roadie or simply curious - you're all welcome. All we ask is that you leave any full carbon race bikes at home for the day and think about what to wear that's in the retro spirit.

A jamboree, says the Oxford English Dictionary, is a large celebration or party. When you arrive back at The Gert Lush HQ through the afternoon, you'll find refreshments, entertainment exhibitions and much much more so do please linger.

Families are welcome with a kids' playground on hand at the venue.

See you on the 19th May!"
