The Haldon Heroic CX Sportive, now in its fifth year, will take place from Exeter Racecourse on Saturday 30th March 2019. Places are limited to 300 across the three routes.
The Haldon Heroic is an enduro style event over mixed terrain, with the course specifically designed as a Sportive for the Cyclocross or Gravel Bike rider. However it is equally suitable for XC and MTB Bikes. The Haldon Heroic offers you a choice of three routes. The CX-Micro (16 miles), the CX-Medio (35 miles) and the CX-Mega (51 miles).
The Haldon Heroic comprises seven forest stages linked together by a mixed-terrain, Sportive route. Each of the seven forest stages are timed and prizes are awarded to the stage winners. There will also be some great 'Spot Prizes' to be won, just for completing these stages. The 'Sportive' course is not timed, leaving you to enjoy the ride at your own pace. The route uses a mixture of Devon Country Lanes, Green Lanes, Bridelways, Farm Tracks, and Open Common.
The CX Mega uses all seven stages and the full Sportive course, providing a gruelling challenge for any rider. The CX-Medio incorporates four of the forest stages with the Sportive course. The CX-Micro is an afternoon ride and uses four of the forest stages, linked by the quiet lanes around Haldon. The combination of these three routes ensures that there is something suitable for all to enjoy.
For full details of each of these routes, please view the respective route Information pages.
When participating in the Haldon Heroic CX Sportive you can be confident that you will be fully supported from start to finish.
Prior to commencing the ride, you will be issued with a unique 'Rider Number' which must be attached to the handlebars of your bike. This identifies that you are participating in the event and is also used by the official photographers so you can quickly and easily find your photos. On the rear of your 'Rider Number' you will find our event support number which you can call at any time during the event should you require assistance.
We will have professional medics and mechanics available should you require their assistance and we also have support vans that can come and pick you up should you find you are unable to complete the course.
All routes are clearly signed and marshaled and we have electronic routes available to download in a variety of formats for those with GPS enabled bike computers.
There are Feed Zones located at the Control Gates of three of the stages. The Feed Zones will have energy drink, gels & bars, water, and light snacks. Refreshments will also be available at Exeter Racecourse throughout the day.
There will be professional photographers out on the course, taking action photos as a memento of your day with us (photos are optional and not included as part of your entry fee).
All finishers will receive one of our Commemorative Haldon Heroic Mugs.
