An extra 200 places will be released for this year's sold out Etape Loch Ness, organisers announced today. Entries first opened in November last year, with all 1,000 places selling out within 24 hours. The extra 200 places will be released at midday tomorrow (Tuesday 11 February), with people who have signed up to the event mailing list receiving a unique entry link by email.

Starting in the Highland capital of Inverness, the Etape Loch Ness is a 107km sportive that sees riders complete a full loop of the famous monster habitat. All cyclists who enter in the latest wave will be encouraged to raise a minimum of £100 for the Etape's official charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

The course passes through the villages of Drumnadrochit and Invermoriston, arriving in Fort Augustus where it crosses the historic Caledonian Canal. There is just one significant climb along the way, a 393m tester at the halfway point, after which it's mostly level to the finishing point back in Inverness.

The organisers say, "This is a fantastic opportunity to cycle for the first time on traffic-free roads for 67-miles around iconic Loch Ness and we hope to see you on the start line in May."
