The draw for places in the 2015 Maratona dles Dolomites takes place today, with more than 31,000 people hoping to have gained an entry in Italy's most famous amateur cycling event.
The draw for the 2015 Maratona will take place in front of a public notary to ensure the randomness of the draw, a practice that has been in place since 2005. The organisers have confirmed that there has been three test of the draw software ahead of the official choice of riders.
The 29th edition of the Maratona will be on Sunday July 5, 2014 and will see 9,000 people ride the 138km route which takes in 4,300 metres of climbing ; entries for the draw closed on November 5.
Official packages of registration and accommodation from Holimites, the official Maratona package operator, have already sold out but it is possible to register interest in case of cancellations. 193 charity places will go on sale on 25 November at 6pm CET and a further 193 charity places will go on sale on 25 March 2015 at 6pm CET.
