Strava has unveiled Strava Photos, a new photo sharing functionality that allows users to upload images alongside their epic rides and runs when using Strava's mobile app.

Adding photos to Strava rides is already possible by connecting your Instagram account, but the current system has a few drawbacks - photos have to be uploaded within a short window of your activity being completed, for example. Using the new in-built feature, images can be added any time you like, meaning that photo buffs now have time to take a shower when they get home rather than firing up Instagram first thing.

Strava have also announced a couple of other enhancements, including a new My Recent Efforts feature and improved Leaderboards. My Recent Efforts allows runners and cyclists to analyse and compare their past segment performances directly from a mobile device. This new feature makes it easier than ever to analyse your activities, track improvement over time and find that all-important motivation to train.

All these features come in the newly updated Strava mobile App, available as a free download for iOS and Android.

"Version 4.4 really enhances the Strava mobile experience for our athletes," says Aaron Forth, Chief Product Officer at Strava.

"Strava Photos adds more depth to the stories Strava athletes tell one another through their activities. My Recent Efforts and the improved leaderboards will enable athletes using smartphones to track their progress over time, while also seeing how their performances stack up among the athletes and Clubs they follow."

Here's one I took earlier... With Strava Photos expect to see a lot more images like this on your friends' activity pages.
