These days there are so many sportives to choose from. Whatever your riding preference - road, off road, climbing or the flatlands - there is sure to be something out there for you. But how many of these sportives combine a great course with the chance to ride with and meet a cycling icon?

On September 20th you can do exactly that, as Italian cycling legend Francesco Moser comes to the UK for a sportive bearing his name.

A one-off, never to be repeated event, the Moser Sportive is your chance to ride with the great man as well as challenge yourself on a fun but demanding ride in the Essex countryside.

Francesco Moser is a three-time winner of Paris-Roubaix as well as winner of the Giro d'Italia and numerous classics including Milan-San Remo and Tour of Lombardy amongst others. He is rightly seen as one of the true all-time greats, and he's here to ride with you this September.

The 69-mile route of the Moser Sportive starts in Shoeburyness, Essex and heads out to Little Baddow taking in the challenging 1.6km climb of North Hill in Danbury. From there it arcs back to the start via Battlesbridge and Rochford.

The route has certainly found favour with Moser who said "I think it will be a lot of fun. I have very happy memories of racing in England back in the 1980s, when I took part in rounds of the Kellogg's City Centre Cycling Series and I look forward to coming back to meet and ride with fellow cyclists.

"I hear that the Essex countryside is quite flat which, as followers of my career will know, is ideal as mountains such as those in the Tour De France really do not suit me!" he added.

"The route has something for everyone and the rolling nature of the terrain will test even the keenest riders" says organiser, Vic Haines. "But for fans who appreciate the history of cycling, it will be the only chance to say 'I rode with Moser' that adds real magic to the experience."

The ride will be professionally timed and will be fully supported with feed stops and official photographers.
