Entries for the 8th edition of the Mallorca 312 sportive open tomorrow, Friday 21st October at midday CET (11 am in UK and Ireland).

At 312km (197 miles) in length and with over 4,500 metres of climbing, Mallorca 312 is among the toughest one-day sportives in the world. The 2017 edition takes place on 29 April and will closely follow the new route first revealed this year, rather than the coastal circuit of previous years.

Having experienced this year's Mallorca 312, we would describe it as a must for any sportive cyclist - with spectacular scenery and a genuinely epic challenge, it ranks high among the best sportives out there.

High demand during the preregistration period suggests another sellout is guaranteed. 6,500 places will be available, and the first 1,000 people to enter will benefit from a special discount and guarantee their place at the cycling sportive for just 65 euro. It is worth mentioning that for 2016 entries were sold out in just 19 days and more than 1,500 people were on the waiting list.

Sponsored by Giant - Taiwan, the Mallorca 312 offers a choice of three courses. Those looking for a slightly gentler introduction to the island than the 312km headline distance can choose from 225km and 167km routes. Each route starts and finishes in Playa de Muro on the north of the island, before visiting the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range - a UNESCO world heritage site - and discovering Mallorca's enchanting inland landscapes.

In 2017, the start for the 225km and 312km distances will be at 7.00 am and the riders of the 167km distance will begin at 9.15 am, with participants free to decide on the day of the event the course they want to ride.

Registration can be made on the event website at www.mallorca312.com, which also has details of accommodation offers for riders and their friends/families at the Viva & Vanity hotels.

In the days before the days before the sportive the Mallorca 312 Expo will again take place, visited by more than 10,000 people in the last edition, adding another reason to visit the island early and make the most of an extended stay in a cyclists' paradise.
