The Monster returns for 2015 on July 11th, with Grimpée Mynydd Ddu to follow on July 12th.

Featuring some of the most challenging and scenic, but quietest roads in Mid Wales The Monster packs a punch that will rip your legs off.

The Monster is not your average sportive. It is aimed at experienced riders who are bored of the standard, easy sportive events out there. It is for riders who know that total climbing is much harder than distance, and for those who think a standard 100 miler is a walk in the park.

There are strict time cut-offs in place and riders must finish within 10.5hrs in order to be classed as a “finisher”. Less than 65% of those who entered the 2014 event were classed as “finishers”. You have been warned!

Grimpée Mynydd Ddu:

The only mass-start hill climb race in the UK. Taking cues from Grimpée L’Alpe, which is a mass start race up Alpe d’Huez the day after La Marmotte. While we don’t have an Alpe to play with, Mynydd Ddu, or the Black Mountain in English offers a long, alpine style climb. Entrants to The Monster will have a free entry to Grimpée Mynydd Ddu, but it will cost £5 in advance, being refunded at registration. This is to prevent riders signing up in advance for free and not riding the event. Entry to Grimpée Mynydd Ddu will be open to anyone, standard entry fee is £10. We hope to have a cash prize (£100 first prize in 2014) available for the winners again this year.
