20,000 riders will take part in the RideLondon-Surrey 100 in 2015, the third year the event will take place. Entry is either by a public ballot (which opens on 18 August 2014 and will be closed once they receive 100,000 entries) or through riders agreeing to raise money for certain designated charities and being awarded a place by the charity.

It is expected that roughly 14,000 of the 20,000 places that are available will be delivered by the public ballot.

The event is starting to bill itself as the cycling equivalent of the London Marathon and it looks likely that it will become harder and harder each year to secure a place in the RideLondon 100.
