La Marmotte is one of the oldest and most famous sportives in Europe. And rightly so. With three HC climbs over its 174km route and a total of 5,180 metres of climbing it is a massive challenge.

The major climbs are the Col du Glandon, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Galibier and then a final ascent of the 21 hairpin bends of Alpe d’Huez. Read our article about La Marmotte gold and silver times.

The 2014 edition of La Marmotte takes place on Saturday 5 July - the same day as the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in Yorkshire.

Note that places sell out very quickly - usually in under two days. Entry costs 80 euros plus an additional 5 euros for insurance (recommended) and 10 euros for a video of you on the route (you can pay more for a HD version if you want) plus a 3 euro booking fee.
