Leaves are changing colour and Sagan is back in the rainbow stripes of World Champion - two sure signs that the road cycling season is nearing an end; but there are still plenty of sportive challenges out there. The Autumn Epic returns on Sunday 1st October, and there's still time to enter until midnight tonight.

Described as a "must-do late season challenge" by Bikes Etc magazine, the Autumn Epic is now its 13th year and has amassed many fans thanks to a scenic route through mid Wales and some challenging climbs.

"The Epic has an incredibly loyal following with people travelling from all over the UK and even some from abroad last year," says organiser Andy Dawson of Rideventures.

"We took over running it in 2016 and have kept the classic route and all the big climbs, including the infamous Glascwm."

The 150km big tour of mid-Wales has a 130km alternative and an 80km "taste" of the route for people new to the Epic.

For 2017 the Epic has teamed up with the cyclist-popular Glyndwr's Way Cafe in Bwlch-Y-Sarnau to feed riders during the event.
