Entries open today for the 2018 edition of the hugely popular Coast to Coast in a Day sportive. The event takes the iconic British cycling route and challenges you to complete it in a single 150-mile ride featuring over 4,000 metres of climbing for a truly testing day in the saddle.

Starting on the west coast in Seascale, the route chosen by organisers Open Cycling takes you through three of England's finest National Parks. Your 150 mile journey begins with the infamous Lake District passes of Hardknott and Wrynose, but this is only the start - you'll then cross the Yorkshire Dales, the Vale of York and the wild North York Moors, before finishing in the seaside town of Whitby.

We rode the Coast to Coast in 2014 and it's one of a select handful of UK rides for which the term "epic" does not feel an exaggeration. With the option of camping the night before, and transfers back to Penrith the following day, it's not a weekend you - or your legs - will forget in a hurry!

The 2018 edition takes place on Saturday 23 June priced £80. The ride sells out in a matter of hours each year, so don't hang about - to register, visit www.opencycling.com/coast-to-coast-in-a-day.
